Mona Kia was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. She holds a Master’s degree in Art and Art History Research from Azad University of Tehran.
From an early age, she demonstrated a deep passion for painting—a love that has only grown stronger with time. Her artistic journey began in childhood and has since evolved into a disciplined and heartfelt creative practice rooted in tradition and personal expression.
Mona Kia’s Artistic Education and Mentorship
She studied the intricate art of Persian miniature painting under the mentorship of Abbas Jamalpour, a master artist known for his philosophy of teaching “with passion and love.” His influence helped shape her thoughtful and emotional approach to her work.
Over the years, she has expanded her practice beyond miniature, mastering a wide range of techniques and mediums including oil color, acrylic, charcoal, pencil, and watercolor. Her work blends classical discipline with expressive, modern approaches, often exploring themes of identity, emotion, and heritage.
